Revisions in written composition: Introducing speech-to-text to children with reading and writing difficulties

The ability to perform revisions targeting the content of text is important for quality improvement, and it hypothesized that lower-level transcription processes need be automatized in order free up capacity higher-level such as revision. However, people with reading writing difficulties due underlying decoding spelling, process rarely because their troubles spelling. One possible way circumvent spelling difficulties, possibly gaining higher level revision, write using speech-to-text (STT). This study investigates performed when children ( n = 16), a reference group without 12), compose STT keyboard. More specifically, whether, if so how, at various levels, errors left final product, differ between conditions groups. compositions were logged keystroke logging (keyboard) audio- screen-recording manually coded. results showed gain more from composing compared keyboard than group.
